Stay cool on the road this summer
Driving an LGV in the summer heat can be challenging, but there are numerous ways to stay cool and comfortable while on the road. First and foremost, it’s crucial to stay hydrated, so always have a large water bottle handy. Drinking plenty of fluids will help maintain your focus and energy levels throughout the journey.
Keeping the cab well-ventilated or using air conditioning when possible makes a big difference in combating the heat. Remember to take regular breaks in a shaded area to avoid overheating.
Investing in sunshades for your windscreen can significantly reduce the amount of sunlight and heat entering the cab, making your driving environment much more pleasant. Additionally, wearing light, breathable clothing helps regulate your body temperature and keep you comfortable for longer periods.
It’s also beneficial to plan your routes and schedules to avoid the peak heat times of the day. Early morning or late evening drives can be much more tolerable. And don’t forget, some LGVs come with built-in cooling seats or portable fans that you can use to your advantage.
A cool driver is a safer driver! Taking these proactive steps will not only keep you comfortable but also ensure that you remain alert and in control throughout your journey. Safe driving!
